Due to the support of the FNRS, a 3 years postdoctoral position in number theory, starting on september 1st 2009, is available at the Chair TAN (Théorie Analytique des Nombres/Analytic Number Theory) at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. The candidate is expected to joint a research project some of whose objectives is the study, by various means, of the analytic properties of automorphic periods (ie. integral of automorphic forms along subgroup orbits in an homogeneous space) and/or possible applications of the later to problems in number theory or arithmetic geometry. - Analytic theory of L-functions. - Automorphic forms, automorphic representations. - Ergodic theoretic methods; especially in relation to algebraic groups. - Arithmetic geometry in relations to automorphic forms (Shimura varieties ect...)
Moreover other fields of expertise might also be considered adequate.
In addition, the job will also include some teaching and supervision of doctoral students. The salary is determined by salary tables of the Swiss Federal Government, and is in the range of 75000 to 80000 CHF/year, depending on the age and experience of the candidate.
